In the Caribbean Sea, there is an area paradise Saint Martin. France and the Netherlands share this little landmass, which is unique among countries. The island's Dutch part, known as Sint Maarten, is a member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, while the French side, known as Saint-Martin, is a French overseas territory.
The Lesser Antilles include Saint Martin, which is about 150 miles east of Puerto Rico. It has a population of about 40,000 people and is about 21 square miles in size. The island is well-known for its stunning beaches, which draw numerous visitors every year. With many residents employed in the service sector, tourism is the island's main source of income.
French and Dutch are Saint Martin's official languages, while English is also extensively used. The island experiences a tropical environment with year-round temperatures ranging from about 75°F to 90°F (24°C to 32°C). When to go: Saint Martin offers an average temperature of 25°C all year round and high humidity tempered by the trade winds. Leave without hesitation between December 15th and April 15th. Then comes the low season, with less frequent trade winds.

Event not to be missed: the Heineken Regatta which attracts the big names in sailing with boats that compete in a 3-day race at the beginning of March. The Carnival is surely the biggest celebration of the year. First celebrated on the French side during the week of Shrove Tuesday and then on the Dutch side during the whole month of April.
