French Polynesia is a yachting paradise and consists of five island groups of volcanic origin: the Society Islands, the Marquesas, Tuamotu, Gambier, and the Austral Ridge. The Society Islands are the best known and themselves consist of 2 groups - the Leewards, which include Raiatea, Bora Bora, and Huahine, and the Windwards which include Tahiti and Moorea. French Polynesia is one of the world's favourite yacht charter destinations, approximately a 6-hour flight from Los Angeles and 7 hours from Australia and New Zealand. A yacht charter in Polynesia is the best way to discover this heaven...
French Polynesia enjoys tropical, warm, and humid weather all year round. A warm rainy season lasts from November to April and a relatively cool dry season from May to October. The rest of the year rain is rare and temperatures are constantly high, tempered sometimes by refreshing breezes. Except in the Marquesas and the northern Tuamotus, rainfall is abundant, falling in violent showers. The water temperature ranges from 79°F to 84°F (26°C to 29°C) making for extremely pleasant yacht charter holidays.
