If you think that Paris is overrated and too rainy, go to Guadeloupe!
Halfway down the eastern
Dutch capital: Philipsburg, French capital: Marigot
Languages: French, Guadeloupean Creole, Dutch, English, Spanish and Papiamento.
Currency: Euros, US Dollars.
When to go: Saint Martin offers an average temperature of 25°C all year round and high humidity tempered by the trade winds. Leave without hesitation between December 15th and April 15th. Then comes the low season, with less frequent trade winds.
Our favorites: Grand case and its small colorful wooden houses, the underwater cave of Trou à Diable, the shops of Wathey Square and go for a cocktail in the port of, Oyster Pond at the French-Dutch border.
To be visited by boat: Anguilla, Saint Barthélemy
Event not to be missed: the Heineken Regatta which attracts the big names in sailing with boats that compete in a 3-day race at the beginning of March. The Carnival is surely the biggest celebration of the year. First celebrated on the French side during the week of Shrove Tuesday and then on the Dutch side during the whole month of April. Discover also the illuminations during the Christmas period.
