If you visit in the summer, the beaches will be teaming with visitors looking for fun and reveling in the unique ambience for which Ibiza is renown. Mallorca : Mallorca reckoned as little more than sun, party and high-rise hotels. But there's lots more besides: mountains, lovely old towns, some beautiful coves and the Balearics' one real city, Palma with an impressive Gothic cathedral, the Old City, Bellver Castle, the Convent of St. Francis and Palacio Vivot. The main sailing destination of the entire region, with the most charter companies, has its hub in the large bay of Palma. Menorca : Menorca is a tranquil island is a good place to go to escape the crowds. Menorca offers some of the most beautiful and unspoiled anchorages in the region and is characterized by its numerous remote coves. Mahon is a city with a long history, it was the capital under British rule and is rich in reminders of its Georgian past whilst still maintaining the atmosphere of pavement cafes, Mediterranean markets and typical town squares perfect for an evening stroll.
