From Grenada to Moustique
After a comprehensive boat and chart briefing, set sail for Hog island or the quaint capital of Grenada, St.Georges.
Tyrrel Bay & Carriacou
Make an early start for an exhilarating day sailing to Tyrrel Bay, on the island of Carriacou, a volcanic peak created 26 to 36 million years ago. Enjoy cruising 20 miles up the west shore of Grenada, accompanied by the nutmeg-scented trade winds. A brisk 10 mile trip from the north-west shore of Grenada past Diamond rock, and l'Ile de Ronde, to Carriacou makes the first drink at one of the local rum shops taste even better!
Petit Saint Vincent
Take a swim at Sandy Island, a flawless sandy islet with no more than half a dozen palm trees. Watch the pelicans performing aquabatics around your yacht as you enjoy breakfast. Snorkel on the reef, before visiting Hillsborough to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables at the market, as well as to leave Grenadian territory. Sail over to Petit St. Vincent and drop anchor behind the reef in the north east of the island, or anchor between PSV and Petite Martinique for the night. Dinghy ashore for an excellent meal at the exclusive hotel on PSV.
Union and Palm Islands
The dramatic peaks of Union Island, the Caribbean equivalent of Chamonix, are a short down-wind sail away. Enter Clifton Harbour, protected by the extensive Thompson reef and complete check-in formalities for St. Vincent territory.
A stone's throw away lies Palm Island, where the golden sands of Casuarinas beach will lure you into the turquoise waters once more. Set sail for palm-lined Saltwhistle Bay on the North West shore of Mayreau. Snorkel the reef on Grand Col Point. Hidden behind the pristine beach and palms of Saltwhistle, nestles a fine resort where you can enjoy dinner Flintstone-style on rock tables.
Mayreau & the Tobago Cays
Take an early morning stroll to the top of Mayreau and enjoy the magnificent views of the Tobago Cays and surrounding islands. Navigate the channel to the Tobago Cays under the midday sunlight. The horseshoe reef offers limitless snorkelling and some fine drift dives. Dine on board under the stars, knowing that you are in one of the most spectacular anchorages on earth.
Set sail for chic Mustique, navigate clear of Montezuma’s shoal, and moor in Britannia bay. Tour by foot, taxi, or horseback past the homes of the rich and famous. Take a swim off the secluded beaches of Macaroni or Sandy Bay. Step back a century when taking afternoon tea at the Cotton house. Keep an eye out for celebrity residents – Mick Jagger, David Bowie! Sail over to the south-western tip of Bequia, past Petit Nevis and sail in the still waters of Admiralty Bay. Soak up the friendly, bustling atmosphere ashore, with an excellent meal at one of the many restaurants.
An early morning trip ashore to replenish provisions at the local market and the roadside vendors. Snorkel the reef off Princess Margaret's beach or dive the wall at Devil's Table or the deep waters of Moon Hole. Heading south again, set your course for the west side of Union Island. Chatham Bay is your destination, a beautiful deserted bay surrounded by hills. Watch the local fisherman whilst you light the BBQ for some of their catch.
Sail back to cosmopolitan Clifton Harbour to check out of St. Vincent territory, then ease the sheets for a great down-wind sail to Tyrrel Bay on Carriacou. Maybe this time you'd like to try some local oysters offered by one of the fishermen in the bay!
One last passage to Grenada and overnight at Prickly Bay, a large tranquil bay on the south coast of Grenada. Enjoy exclusive dining at one of the best restaurants on the island, or choose from many other restaurants ashore. At weekends, dance the night away to the local sounds of the steel pan band at the Boatyard.
A short leisurely sail brings you back around to True Blue Bay Marina for a noon finish.
